Kota Kinabalu: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has detained three state enforcement assistants suspected of soliciting and receiving about RM10,000 in bribes in exchange for not taking action against lorries belonging to a hardware and transport company for various traffic offences.
Sabah MACC director Datuk Mohd Fuad Bee Basrah said the three male suspects, aged in their 30s, were arrested between 4pm and 7pm yesterday when they turned up to provide statements at the Sabah MACC office.

He said initial investigations found the suspects were believed to have conspired in the alleged offences between January 2023 and October 2024.
He said the suspects were believed to have received monthly cash bribes of RM500 through money transfers into third-party personal bank accounts.
The case is being investigated under Section 17(a) of the MACC Act 2009.
