30 attend basic kayak course

LABUAN: The Labuan Federal Territory Youth and Sports Department (JBS), in collaboration with the Labuan Canoe Association, successfully organised the WP Labuan 2026 Star One Basic Kayak Course, which was held over three days from May 15 to May 17 at Sungai Labu Beach and the Kampung Sungai Labu Community Hall.

Assistant Director of Sports at JBS Labuan, Felix Den Anthony Paru, said the course attracted 30 participants comprising youths and water recreational sports enthusiasts from around Labuan.

He said the programme aimed to provide participants with basic exposure to kayak handling techniques, water safety aspects, as well as theoretical and practical knowledge in kayaking.

According to him, the programme also served as a platform to produce more skilled and disciplined water recreational sports enthusiasts in extreme and recreational sports activities.
