KUALA LUMPUR: An AirAsia flight to Sandakan turned back to KLIA shortly after takeoff on Sunday due to a technical issue.
CAAM confirmed the pilot requested to return, and the aircraft landed safely.
Flightradar24 data showed the plane departed at 6.24am, turned back about 12 minutes later, and landed at 7.17am.
Meanwhile, a passenger’s social media post claimed the right engine emitted flames, causing panic, but the aircraft landed safely with no reported incidents.
