PANEL speaker Nominated Assemblyman and former Sabah Law Society President Datuk Roger Chin sees Sabah’s 40pc entitlement case ending up in the Federal Court.
"When this reaches the federal court it will be next year. Win or lose, I am fairly certain that federal court judges who are hearing it already have some idea about what this MA63 issue is.

“I have faith that the courts will do the right thing and decide in accordance with the Constitution.
“Which is what they swear to apply, the Constitution. Nothing more, nothing less. I really hope politics plays no role at all, and the judges will do the right thing and apply the Constitution. If they do that, we will be fine,” Chin said.
“Judges are human beings. They also watch social media, they also read the newspapers, they also read the comments that are being made.
“This is very important because when they read all of these things, they themselves have an awareness. They themselves have better understanding of the issue,” Chin said.
All the panellists, including Datuk Seri Panglima Dr Jeffrey Kitingan (Member of Parliament for Keningau) agree Sabah must remain united and persistent, both legally and politically, to secure this long-overdue financial right.
They reckoned a constitutional reading by the Federal Court should uphold Sabah’s claim and reject the Malay establishment’s framing of Sabah’s claims as greed which is an unfair and harmful narrative.
Beyond litigation, continuous education and engagement – especially with youth – are essential to embed MA63 rights as a lasting legacy in nation building.
The event moderator was former federal minister Tan Sri Anifah Aman.
