Labuan hopes foreign labour freeze is lifted
Dahlif said the workers issue had been dragging on since 2022 and several sectors were hard hit, including professional cooks, maids and the construction and entertainment industries.
LABUAN: The freeze on the import of foreign workers here is under review by the Immigration Department with positive indications of approval given to employers to replace workers who had completed their service and returned home.

Indian Chamber of Commerce Chairman Datuk Dahlif Singh disclosed this after a dialogue with Immigration Director-General Datuk Zakaria Shaaban.

Thanking the DG for holding the session and providing the local business community an opportunity to express their concerns, Dahlif said:

“We are hopeful that solutions will be worked out after the DG heard our woes directly and getting a first-hand view of the plight of employers here.”
