LABUAN: The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) Labuan took enforcement action against two companies for alleged non-compliance of laws. KPDN Labuan Enforcement Chief Amiluddin Malang said two enforcement teams comprising eight officers inspected the companies following complaints.
The first involved a personal care premises found to have violated the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Act 2011 [Act 723] for failing to comply with price marking requirements under the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering (Price Marking for Goods and Charges for Services) Order 2020.
Inspections found the premises failed to clearly and properly display price tags on goods.
Amiluddin said the offence carries a fine of up to RM50,000 for a first offence and up to RM100,000 for subsequent offences, on conviction.
The second compound was issued to a parking service provider under the Weights and Measures Act 1972 [Act 71] for using a parking time-recording device whose verification period had expired.
He said using weighing and measuring instruments that are unverified or have expired verification is an offence under Subsection 14(6) of the Act and offenders may face a fine of up to RM40,000, imprisonment of up to three years, or both, on conviction.
