LABUAN: The Labuan-Menumbok roll-on roll-off (Ro-Ro) ferries should provide a 24-hour service during peak seasons such as the coming May end holidays to ensure a smooth journey for all travellers.
“The present scenario for travel during peak seasons is to book tickets weeks in advance. This is both inconvenient and ridiculous because it is difficult to prepare for travel so early,” said Parti Peribumi Bersatu Malaysia pro tem chief here, Abdul Wahab Zainal.
He said ferries operating on a 24-hour basis during peak seasons would bring much convenient to many travellers, noting that ferry trips during busy occasions were not enough to handle the rush.
According to the Marine Department data, during Hari Raya some 4,000 vehicles and 8,000 passengers used the ferries. By now the figure could have increased.
