LAHAD DATU: Sixty-five foreigners were detained for committing various offences by the Sabah Immigration Department in Kota Kinabalu and here.
The department, in a statement, said they were detained under Ops Sapu in Lahad Datu and Ops Mahir as well as Ops Sapu in Kota Kinabalu.
During the Lahad Datu operation, 69 individuals were inspected, resulting in 50 of them being detained for various immigration offences.
Among the offences are not having valid documents and violating the conditions of pass under the Immigration Act 1959/63.
Those detained comprised 11 men, nine women, eight boys and 12 girls from the Philippines. Also detained were three men, three women, two boys and two girls from Indonesia.
In Kota Kinabalu, 41 individuals were inspected, resulting in 15 foreigners detained comprising two men and eight women from the Philippines as well as five men from China.
They were detained for committing offences under the Immigration Act 1959/63.
The department said it will further intensify enforcement operations from time to time in efforts to flush out illegal immigrants as well as to ensure the compliance to national immigration laws.
