PAPAR: Allegations by Kapayan assemblyman Chin Tek Ming linking the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) government to the rejection of a private member’s motion on Sabah’s 40 per cent entitlement have been described as an attempt to cover up past mistakes by the previous Warisan administration.
GRS deputy secretary-general Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali (

He said the first was in August 2019 when the then State government stated it was not appropriate to bring the 40 per cent claim to court, while the second was a Cabinet decision in October 2019 to accept a revised special grant of RM53.4 million, which he said deviated from the intended claim.
Armizan said the rejection of the private motion was based on the Speaker’s decision and not by GRS or the State government, adding that attempts to blame the current administration were misleading and politically motivated.
He said the State government remained consistent in pursuing the 40 per cent entitlement through negotiations and legal action, with efforts to increase the special grant and finalise discussions with the Federal Government.
