PENAMPANG: The Penampang Municipal Council has launched a Mobile Parking Operations Team, a first in Sabah, to improve the management of 5,477 parking spaces across 29 locations in the district.

The team, operating in collaboration with Waja Alammega Sdn Bhd, will use motorcycles to patrol parking areas, monitor OKU bays, respond to public feedback, and deter criminal activity.

MPP President Noemi Dyena Johntren said on Monday that the initiative is about serving motorists, not penalising them.

The council is also introducing body cameras for enforcement staff, a joint consultative committee, and licence plate recognition scanning technology.
