Sabah Ethnic Day boosts tourism appeal
35 ethnic groups took part in the parade.
Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah Ethnic Day 6.0 has great potential to become one of the State’s main tourist attractions while introducing its cultural diversity to the world, says Datuk Nizam Abu Bakar Titingan.

The State Youth Development, Sports Advancement and Creative Economy Minister said the event, which was celebrated on Saturday, can also be a unifying platform that promotes Sabah’s unique cultures to the world.

He said the event which was held in conjunction with Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sabah Tun Musa Aman’s 75th official birthday celebrations, helps foster relations between the royal institution with local communities.

A total of 35 ethnic groups came together to parade in their best traditional attire, further allowing locals and foreigners to experience and learn about the beautiful diversity of Sabahan cultures.

Cosmobeauté Malaysia and beautyexpo will expand into East Malaysia with the launch of the Cosmobeauté Malaysia Borneo Festival 2026 at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) from May 25 to 26.
He said the involvement of some 182 ethnic associations portraying Sabah’s melting pot is one of the State’s main assets in tourism promotions.

“Through this programme, we continue to put it out there how Sabah remains a model of unity in diversity,” he said in a statement.

On another note, Nizam said such events compliment efforts to promote the Visit Malaysia Year and for the Visit Sabah Year 2027.

Other than ethnic and cultural parades which started from the downtown Deasoka up to the Sabah International Convention Centre, the programme featured dance performances that wowed local and international visitors.
