17 contingents competing in Sepak Takraw Maksak Games 2026

Kota Kinabalu: The Sepak Takraw Maksak Games 2026 officially kicked off with the participation of 17 contingents nationwide, involving more than 400 athletes and officials in a vibrant display of sportsmanship.

State Secretary Datuk Seri Safar Untong said such programmes serve as an ideal platform to strengthen camaraderie beyond office settings while fostering unity among civil servants.

“This championship is not only a platform for competition, but also provides an opportunity for participants to showcase their talents and uphold a high level of sportsmanship.

“The spirit of sportsmanship and mutual respect must be preserved, as the true victory lies in the harmony built throughout the tournament,” he said in his speech at the Welcome Dinner held in conjunction with the championship.

The Sepak Takraw Maksak Games 2026 is scheduled to run for four days from April 23 to 26 at Dewan Seri Putatan, with the aim of continuing to strengthen unity and teamwork among civil servants nationwide.

Participants were also encouraged to experience Sabah’s unique culture and hospitality, making their time at the championship a meaningful and memorable one.

Also present were Legal Adviser to the Sabah Chief Minister and Vice President (Welfare) of Maksak Sabah, Nor Asiah Mohd Yusof, and Maksak Malaysia Secretary-General Noor Hisham Affizam Shamsuddin.
