Kota Kinabalu: A total of 52 individuals received their badges, comprising 10 officers and 42 other ranks during the Submarine Expertise Badge Presentation Ceremony for the year 2026, held at the Submarine Force Headquarters, RMN Base Kota Kinabalu on Wednesday.
Hosted by the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) Submarine Force Headquarters, the ceremony was officiated by the Chief of Navy, Admiral Ts Dr Zulhelmy Ithnain.
All recipients successfully underwent rigorous training that tested both physical and mental endurance, particularly in mastering submarine technology within a highly challenging environment.
Each phase of the training demanded determination, resilience, and perseverance from the trainees, all driven by a shared goal of becoming competent submariners capable of operating RMN submarines.
The Chief of Navy expressed his pride and reminded all submariners to consistently demonstrate high levels of professionalism, competence, and strong character at all times, as the awarding of this badge carries a significant responsibility, namely the operation of the nation’s strategic assets.
He also emphasised that the strength of the RMN lies not only in its assets but also in the readiness and competence of its personnel.
“Therefore, I urge all submariners to continuously enhance their knowledge, skills, and integrity to ensure that submarine operational capabilities remain at the highest level,” he said.
