Workshop supervisor held over alleged factory theft
TAWAU: Police arrested a 40-year-old workshop supervisor on Monday for allegedly stealing cash belonging to a colleague from a drawer at a factory along Jalan Apas here.

Tawau district police chief ACP Jasmin Hussin said the suspect, a local man, was identified through closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage at the premises.

He said a police report was lodged by the 33-year-old female victim after she discovered cash kept in her office drawer was missing.

Jasmin said the loss was noticed at about 7.30am, leading to the suspect’s arrest at the same factory about two hours later by officers from the district Criminal Investigation Department.

He said the suspect is believed to have entered the victim’s office at about 11.25am on Sunday when the premises were not operating and is being investigated under Section 380 of the Penal Code, with no prior criminal record found.
