RANAU: A 21-year-old local was arrested on suspicion of being involved in a housebreaking case that resulted in a loss of assets and cash worth up to RM4,650, here, recently.
The case summary states that the incident occurred in Kampung Mohimboyon Kundasang where the female victim, a 33-year-old vegetable trader, found that her house had been broken into and several items in the house were missing, suspected to have been stolen.
After checking the house, the victim realised that her son’s coin piggy-bank was missing. A bag containing a bracelet worth RM2,800, a gold dinar worth RM1,300, as well as cash totalling RM500 and fireworks worth RM50 were also missing.
Immediately after the incident, the victim filed a police report and acting on the report, a team of police officers from the Ranau IPD Criminal Investigation Division arrested the suspect suspected of being involved in the case.
Meanwhile, in a separate case, the police also arrested a 31-year-old local for suspected involvement in the theft of jackfruit from a smallholder’s fruit orchard.
On the day of the incident, at approximately 10.14pm, the complainant stated that his mother’s orchard in Kg Badukan Ranau had been trespassed and a number of jackfruit had been stolen by an unknown person believed to be riding a red Honda motorcycle.
