SANDAKAN: The State Local Government and Housing Ministry (KKTP) is taking a serious stance on an incident involving the assault of an enforcement officer here and is enhancing safety measures, including the proposed use of body cameras.

Assistant Minister I Datuk Fairuz Renddan said the incident, which occurred during Ramadan, raised concerns over the safety of enforcement personnel and underscored the need for improvements in field operations.

“Discussions are ongoing at the ministry level to equip enforcement officers with safety equipment, particularly body cameras, to better monitor both personnel and operational situations,” he told reporters after attending a briefing at the Sandakan Municipal Council and visiting the Sandakan Central Market here on Friday.
