SANDAKAN: A drug dealer was among seven individuals arrested in a series of Ops Tapis Narkotik conducted by the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division (BSJND) of the Sandakan District Police Headquarters (IPD), here, recently.
Sandakan District Police Chief ACP George Abd Rakman said the male suspect, believed to be dealing methamphetamine or Syabu, was arrested during an operation on April 2 between 1pm and 3pm in Kg Gum-Gum, Batu 16.

He said the suspect was detained under Section 39A(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
On the same day, the operation continued to Kg Baru, Batu 18, where two more men were arrested for possession of syabu under Section 12(2) of the same Act.
Meanwhile, in a separate operation on April 3 between 5pm and 8pm in Kg Bokara, George said police arrested three local men suspected of involvement in drug abuse activities.
He said one of them was detained under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, while another was suspected of ingesting drugs.

The third suspect, he said was initially detained for a separate offence before being subjected to a urine screening test.
All suspects were later brought to the BSJND office at IPD Sandakan, where preliminary urine tests returned positive results for Amphetamine and Methamphetamine.
All seven suspects are currently being held at the IPD Sandakan lock-up for further investigation and action.
