SEMPORNA: Police from the Narcotic Crime Investigation Division arrested two men in separate operations at Kampung Batu and Kampung Perigi on Sunday.
District Police Chief Supt Tan Hiap Wah said the first suspect, a 38-year-old local, was detained around 10.30am in the Kampung Batu area after officers found a translucent plastic containing substances believed to be syabu in his possession.

“The second suspect, a 54-year-old foreign man, was detained around 5.50pm in Kampung Perigi after police discovered 5.10 grammes of drugs believed to be syabu,” he said.
“Both suspects were taken to Semporna Police Headquarters (BSJND) for further action,” he added.
He said the cases are being investigated under Section 12(3) and Section 39A(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
Tan said police will continue to intensify efforts to combat drug abuse and trafficking in the district and urged the public to report any criminal activities to ensure community safety.

“Police will not compromise with any individuals involved in drugs,” he added.
