Kota Kinabalu: A 20-year-old man was charged in the Magistrate’s Court here with criminal intimidation involving threats of death and the circulation of obscene images.
Kenneddy Jepayu, a waiter, claimed trial before Magistrate Marilyn Kelvin to criminally intimidating a 23-year-old woman by threatening to cause her death and to circulate obscene images at a house in Kolombong, Inanam, at 1am on March 13 this year.

The charge, under Section 506 of the Penal Code, carries a jail term of up to seven years, or a fine, or both, on conviction.
The court fixed April 27 for pre-trial case management and released the accused on bail of RM1,800 in two sureties, with conditions that he report to a police station once a month and not interfere with the complainant or witnesses.
In a separate case, a 46-year-old woman was fined RM1,300 or two months’ jail for engaging in online gambling.
Pres Cilla John pleaded guilty before Magistrate Dzul Elmy Yunus to the charge under Section 7(2) of the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953.
She admitted to having a mobile phone installed with an online gambling application known as “Mega888” at a shoplot area next to a minimarket in Putatan at 3.25pm on Jan 16.
The offence provides for a fine of up to RM5,000, imprisonment of up to six months, or both, on conviction.
The prosecution stated that a police team conducting “Op Dadu” at the location found Press engaged in online gambling activities using the mobile phone.
She was arrested, and the device was seized for further investigation.
