Philippines adopts four-day work week to curb fuel use
MANILA: The Philippine government has adopted a temporary four-day work week for some executive branch offices starting March 9 in a move aimed at reducing energy consumption amid rising global fuel prices, the Seasia News reported.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. (pic) ordered the measure as part of efforts to cushion the impact of higher oil prices linked to tensions in the Middle East, according to reports and an official government announcement.

Under the directive, agencies under the executive branch are required to adopt a compressed schedule while continuing to deliver essential government services.

The order does not apply to offices providing emergency or frontline services such as police, firefighters and other critical public service agencies.
