China’s 'Gamer Grandpa' beats horror game with handwritten notes
SICHUAN: A gamer in his 90s from China is gaining attention online for completing a modern horror game using handwritten notes instead of digital guides.

According to SharkNext's Instagram post, Yang Binglin, known as “Gamer Grandpa,” played Resident Evil Requiem by carefully recording puzzles, item locations, and map layouts in a notebook as he progressed through the game.

He shared parts of his journey on Bilibili, showing how his notes helped him navigate each section step by step.

Yang only began gaming after retiring as an engineer in 1996, but has since built an impressive collection of over 500 titles across various platforms.

The 2026 D-MAX also introduces an 8-speed automatic gearbox with sequential shift across the range, including the Single Cab variant, making it the first pick-up truck in Malaysia to offer an automatic transmission in that body style.
He continues to document his gameplay experiences, proving age is no barrier to mastering modern video games.

In 2024, he was recognised by Guinness World Records as the world's oldest male gaming streamer.
