PENAMPANG: A 17-year-old girl was safely brought down from the upper floors of a shopping complex here, Friday, after fire and rescue personnel persuaded her not to jump in what authorities described as an attempted suicide.
The Fire and Rescue Department received an emergency call at about 5.19 pm and a team of six personnel from the Penampang fire station arrived at the scene within three minutes.
The team led by Operations Commander Callixtus Fedilis immediately began efforts to calm and persuade the teenager upon arrival.
The girl was successfully talked down and handed over to the police for further action.
The operation ended at about 6pm, lasting some 40 minutes. No injuries were reported.
Police were among the responding agencies at the scene.
The identity of the teenager has not been disclosed.
