Call to review Jalan Tuaran exit closure
According to Azis, heavy vehicles, including lorries and container trucks, had for many years been able to exit directly onto the main road, which was crucial for loading and unloading machinery, equipment, and large automotive components.
Kota Kinabalu: Sepanggar Warisan Division Chief Datuk Mohd Azis Jamman called on the Public Works Department (JKR) and Kota Kinabalu City Hall (DBKK) to reconsider the closure of an exit near the commercial area along Jalan Tuaran.

The exit, which previously linked commercial lots directly to the main road, has caused operational difficulties for automobile spare parts and hardware businesses in the area.

According to him, heavy vehicles, including lorries and container trucks, had for many years been able to exit directly onto the main road, which was crucial for loading and unloading machinery, equipment, and large automotive components.

With the closure in place, lorries are forced to take longer and more complicated routes through the internal road network, where vehicles are frequently parked during business hours and peak traffic periods.

Kota Kinabalu: KOTA KINABALU: Fiesta Mega Raya (FMR) 2026 is set to be the largest and most prestigious Hari Raya celebration in Sabah, taking place from March 7 to 18, at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC), here.
“This situation makes it extremely difficult for large transport vehicles to manoeuvre safely and increases congestion and safety risks," he said.

Mohd Azis acknowledged that traffic planning and public transport improvements, including the installation of a bus stop, were carried out in the public interest.

However, he stressed that decisions affecting long-established commercial activities should involve prior consultation with affected business operators.

“These shops have operated here for many years and depend heavily on heavy vehicle access for their daily operations," he said, urging JKR and DBKK to review the decision and consider reopening the exit or providing a practical alternative.
