KOTA KINABALU: The State Government wants Sabahan companies to move up the value chain and take leading roles in Sabah’s oil and gas industry, Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said.
In a speech delivered by Assistant Finance Minister Datuk Mohd Ishak Ayub at the strategic partnership signing ceremony between Secov Engineering, PALB Engineering and Endress+Hauser here on Thursday, Masidi, who is also Finance Minister, said such collaborations strengthen local capability and competitiveness.

He said when Sabahan companies work with strong technical partners, they combine local strengths with specialised expertise, enabling them to meet international standards and deliver high-quality work.
Masidi stressed that knowledge transfer must be a priority in partnerships so that Sabahans acquire and master skills in maintaining field instruments, heavy machinery and critical systems, adding that retaining expertise locally would strengthen the state in the long term.
He said smart partnerships that allow local companies to secure major contracts would help retain more value in Sabah, support the economy and infrastructure, and advance the goals of Sabah Maju Jaya by positioning Sabahan firms as main players in driving the state’s progress.
