KUCHING: Expanding the role of Sabahans and Sarawakians in key positions within their local civil service was a central focus of a recent Working Committee Meeting on Public Service Matters held here.
The meeting discussed ways to strengthen the effectiveness, professionalism and integrity of governance in both states, Dayak Daily reported.
Sabah Public Service director Datuk Zainudin Aman led the Sabah delegation, while Sarawak Secretary Datuk Amar Mohammad Abu Bakar Marzuki headed the Sarawak team.
According to a Sarawak Public Communications Unit (UKAS) report, the push aligns with recommendations under the Malaysia Agreement 1963, including the Borneoisation of the federal civil service and the creation of additional posts under Article 112 of the Federal Constitution.
Both measures aim to increase the number of Sabahans and Sarawakians serving in their home states, enhancing administrative capacity and improving public service delivery.
The meeting was chaired by Public Service director-general Wan Ahmad Dahlan Abdul Aziz.
