KOTA KINABALU: Deputy Chief Minister cum Finance Minister Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said local Sabah oil and gas (O&G) companies should no longer remain observers but must become active players in the industry following a courtesy call by the Sabah Oil and Gas Services Council at his office here on Thursday.
During the meeting, SOGSC briefed Masidi on the Oil, Gas and Energy Services Exhibition 2026, scheduled from June 4 to 6, 2026 at the Sabah International Convention Centre, and shared its progress in developing Sabah-based O&G vendors.

Masidi said programmes such as OGSE 2026, themed “Driving Sabah as Malaysia’s Energy Frontier”, leave Sabah companies with no reason not to excel in the oil, gas and energy services sector.
SOGSC adviser Datuk Willie Ng said OGSE 2026 would mark the culmination of Sabah’s sustained progress and growth in the O&G industry under Masidi’s leadership.
Ng said Sabah contractors recorded a significant rise in revenue following the 2021 Commercial Collaboration Agreement between the Sabah Government and Petronas, increasing from RM613 million in 2021 to more than RM2 billion in 2024, alongside a State target of awarding 60 per cent of OGSE contracts to Sabah companies.
