Sabah’s Pygmy Elephant and Orangutan symbolize collaboration and adaptation in BE
KOTA KINABALU: Sabah’s iconic Borneo pygmy elephant and orangutan embody the state’s spirit of collaboration and adaptability in the global business events scene, ICCA CEO Dr Senthil Gopinath said.

The pygmy elephant represents collective progress, while the orangutan reflects intelligence, adaptability, and connection to the environment.

Speaking at the Third International Business Events Forum (BE in Sabah) 2026 at SICC, Dr Senthil praised Sabah Government and stakeholders for uniting the local and global business events community.

He said modern business events go beyond meetings to foster knowledge exchange, innovation, policy dialogue, and long-term value creation.

Highlighting Sabah’s potential in sustainability, biodiversity, life sciences, and climate resilience, he stressed that successful destinations align stakeholders and leverage local expertise.

“When a destination moves together like a pygmy elephant herd and adapts like the orangutan, Sabah helps shape the global economy,” he said, noting BE in Sabah 2026 reflects the state’s readiness for international engagement and long-term impact.
