“According to the complainant, his face was punched while he was on his way home, causing him to speed off on his motorcycle to distance himself from the suspect,” he said here on Sunday.
However, the complainant later received a text message via the WhatsApp application from the suspect while at his home in Kg Haji Sundu, Batu 2, Jalan Apas, at about 5.30 a.m.
Jasmin revealed that the text message contained threats challenging the complainant to a fight, followed by another image message showing several machetes, which was later deleted by the suspect.
The suspect was subsequently arrested the same day.
Investigations revealed that the suspect is an 18-year-old foreign national with no fixed employment.
“Investigations are being conducted under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation and Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 for residing in the country without valid identification documents,” he said.
