He was briefing a delegation from the Sabah Young Business & Industry Leaders Network (Sybil) at its headquarters in Wisma Innoprise, here. It included business owners and industry professionals from various sectors within Sybil.
The visit was initiated and led by Sybil Founding President Datuk Ar James Wong as part of efforts to strengthen engagement with key Government-Linked Companies (GLCs) and explore potential collaboration opportunities within Sabah’s expanding Oil & Gas and industrial ecosystems.
Mohd Azmir, together with Chief Operating Officer Yaakob Mahmood, provided an overview of SOGDC’s mandate, strategic direction and growth plans, including its role in managing and developing the Sipitang Oil & Gas Industrial Park (Sogip).
“Engagements like this help us understand industry needs and collaborate on value-driven solutions for Sabah,” said Mohd Azmir.
Highlighted were SOGDC’s progress and capabilities in industrial land development, Sipitang Port operations and marine-related services, as well as major investments within Sogip, notably Esteel Enterprise Sabah Sdn Bhd, one of the largest investments in the State and a key driver of downstream economic activity.
James explained Sybil’s role as a platform of young, professional Sabah-based business leaders working alongside the Government to support industrial developments through providing services, operational expertise and industry solutions, while empowering local entrepreneurs and SMEs to participate in the value chain.
“This engagement marks an important step in aligning the capabilities of Sabah’s business community with the State’s industrial ambitions, and we look forward to translating these discussions into meaningful collaborations,” he said.
Both SOGDC and Sybil reaffirmed their shared commitment to fostering a long-term partnership.
