SANDAKAN: The Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) officially decommissioned KD Pari in a ceremonial event at the RMN Base Jetty in Sandakan on Friday, marking the end of the warship’s more than 46 years of service.
The ceremony was officiated by Eastern Fleet Commander Vice Admiral Datuk Khir Junaidi Idris, representing the RMN Chief.

He said the decommissioning was a significant milestone for the navy, as KD Pari had served extensively in Sabah and Peninsular waters, sailing nearly 397 million nautical miles and taking part in joint exercises and major security operations.
KD Pari played key roles in operations such as Op Pasir, Op Daulat Benua, Op Sinar Sakti and ESSCOM missions, including Op Daulat during the 2013 Lahad Datu intrusion.
Launched in 1975 and commissioned in 1977, KD Pari was part of the Fast Attack Craft squadron and later served under the Rapid Patrol Craft Squadron based in Sandakan.
Despite undergoing a repowering upgrade in 2022, the vessel is the first in its squadron to be decommissioned under the RMN’s 15-to-5 fleet transformation plan.
