KOTA BELUD: Four families comprising 14 people were left homeless after the house they were staying in was destroyed in a fire at Kampung Pinolobu, here, on Saturday.
The fire, which occurred at about 11am, caused no injuries or loss of life.
District Fire and Rescue Station chief Elge Bakuk said they received an emergency call at 11.14am.
He said seven personnel, including an officer, were dispatched to the scene located about two kilometres away with one fire engine and one Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) utility vehicle.
Upon arrival, the fire crew found a semi-permanent house had been completely destroyed by the blaze.
“The fire spread quickly but all 14 occupants, including seven children, were unharmed,” he said.
He added that most of the occupants’ belongings and some personal documents could not be saved.
Elge said the fire was brought under control at 12.35pm before it spread to nearby houses.
“Operations ended at 2pm, while the cause of the fire and estimated losses are still under investigation,” he said.
