Kota Kinabalu: Another piece of evidence has emerged in the inquest of Zara Qairina Mahathir following the testimony of SMKA Tun Datu Mustapha warden, Chief Ustaz Azhari Abd Sagap.
The new evidence was a piece of paper written about Zara, discovered after a school gotong-royong, held just before the incident. Azhari revealed the finding when he was re-called to give evidence during the continuation of the inquest on Wednesday.
According to Azhari, student D personally handed over the paper, which had been found hanging on the corridor fence after the gotong-royong.
He further testified that the writing on the paper read: “Zara Qai A35 sok badar terpaling mau jaga form 1 solat, tau la mau jadi badar...bodoh…lepas tu alasan kak Dayang suruh.”
Azhari told the coroner that he surrendered the paper to police a week after receiving it from the student.
Following the revelation, Coroner Amir Shah Amir Hassan adjourned the inquest early at 4.15pm, saying he hoped it would be the last “surprise”.
“I haven’t read the reports… make sure there are no more surprises… provide all documents so everyone can read them,” he said.
Earlier in Azhari’s testimony, he told the coroner that he did not know about the existence of written statements by students following the internal investigation carried out by Discipline Unit and stated that he only knew about it during the inquest on Wednesday.
However, Azhari said for the five students’ written statements, he obtained from Ustaza Syahadah via WhatsApp.
The inquest continues.
