TAWAU: A motorcyclist sustained serious injuries after being hit by a car driven by an unlicensed 20-year-old woman at the Telekom traffic light junction along Jalan Salleh here at about 7.30pm on Friday.
This is the second serious traffic light accident in Tawau this year, following last week’s fatal collision at the Batu 2 Jalan Apas traffic light that claimed the life of a nine-year-old boy.

Tawau District Police Chief ACP Jasmin Hussin said the latest accident involved a collision between a Proton Iriz and a Honda RS motorcycle.
“The car driver was uninjured, but the motorcyclist suffered serious injuries, including a fractured right shin and was taken to the hospital,” he said here on Sunday.
Jasmin said initial investigations showed that the motorcyclist was travelling from the Flat Hijau area towards Ambar Park, while the woman was driving towards her home in Taman Hill Top.
The motorcyclist proceeded through the intersection after the traffic light turned green but was hit by the car coming from the opposite direction, which was suspected to have been travelling at high speed.
