KINABATANGAN: A newborn baby boy was found abandoned in a box at an oil palm plantation here after a worker stumbled upon him while on duty on Friday evening.
District police chief Supt Ravi Duraisamy said the discovery was reported at about 7.27pm at a plantation owned by Karangan Agriculture Sdn Bhd, after the worker alerted the management.

The baby was taken to the plantation clinic for initial treatment before being sent to Hospital Kinabatangan, where doctors estimated him to be three to five days old and weighing about 2.4kg.
Police said the baby was in stable condition, fully formed and without injuries, and will be referred to the Duchess of Kent Hospital in Sandakan for further monitoring and welfare follow-up.
No arrests have been made as investigations under Section 317 of the Penal Code continue, with police urging anyone with information to contact Kinabatangan police at 089-561890, or the investigating officer, Insp Nur Syafiqah Dahon at 014-5573735, to assist efforts to trace those involved.
