PENAMPANG: A 69-year-old local died after the four-wheel drive vehicle he was travelling in crashed along Jalan Papar Lama, near the Lok Kawi Camp in Putatan, on Wednesday.
The impact caused the victim on the front passenger seat to be thrown out of the vehicle.

He was pronounced dead at the scene by health officials following the single-vehicle accident which happened at 6pm.
Penampang District Police Chief Supt Sammy Newton said the 4WD driven was driven by a 40-year-old foreigner with three male passengers aged between 30 and 69.
“Preliminary investigation found that the vehicle is believed to have lost control before skidding off the left side of the road,” he said.
The driver and the other two passengers escaped without injuries.
Police have detained the driver to assist in the investigation.
Sammy advised road users to always exercise caution while driving to ensure their own safety as well as that of others.
