The court heard that Syahruddin used falsified receipts from three companies to support a reconciliation of expenses claim dated July 24, 2014, which was submitted to a finance division officer at the MCMC office in Sandakan.
He was convicted under Section 18 of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Act, with the jail terms ordered to run concurrently from the date of conviction.
Meanwhile, Beaufort branch assistant director Sufri Hasan Mindar was sentenced to six months’ jail and fined RM10,000, or three months in default, for using a fake invoice to claim RM4,900 for a 2013 festival expense, with the court allowing a stay of execution for both men.
