Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Industry is set to implement a Mentor-Mentee Programme aimed at producing more successful young entrepreneurs in the agriculture, fisheries and livestock sectors in the State.
Sabah Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Industry, Datuk Jamawi Jafar, said this after inviting his long-time friend, Gerald Wong

He said the Ministry unanimously agreed to appoint Gerald Wong as a mentor for the programme, taking into account his outstanding achievements in modern agriculture despite his young age.
“I am very proud of his success and believe that his experience and expertise can serve as an inspiration and a guide to the younger generation who wish to venture into agriculture in a more modern and competitive manner,” Jamawi said.
Jamawi said he had selected 12 young individuals who have succeeded in agriculture, fisheries and livestock farming to serve as mentors to other youths.
All the mentors will work closely with him and the Ministry in the implementation of the Kitchen Garden Tour Programme, which is expected to be carried out in the near future as part of efforts to strengthen food security and the rural economy in Sabah.
“It is hoped that all these plans will be facilitated and bring significant benefits to youth development as well as the State’s agri-food sector,” he added.
