Kota Kinabalu: A company director was on Wednesday freed from two charges of committing criminal breach of trust involving a sum of RM1.7 million.
Sessions Court Judge Elsie Primus discharged and acquitted Wong Kim Hing, 54, after ruling that the prosecution had failed to prove the case beyond reasonable doubt against Wong.

On the first count, Wong was accused of embezzling company’s money amounting to RM1,507,574.80 between April 28 and Dec 29, 2021.
On the second count, he allegedly committed criminal breach of trust involving RM200,669 between July 22 and Sept 12, 2022.
The offence, under Section 409 of the Penal Code, carries a jail term of up to 20 years and whipping or with a fine, upon conviction.
Seven prosecution and four defence witnesses were called to testify during the hearing.
The court ordered the bail sum and Wong’s passport to be returned to him.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Nurul Shaferrah Mad Iskim conducted the prosecution while counsel Datuk Ram Singh and Prem Elmer Ganasan defended Wong.
