Kota Kinabalu: Sabah’s development agenda under Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) 2.0 to be implemented soon is a people-centred initiative designed to improve the lives and livelihoods of every Sabahan, said Datuk John Ambrose.
The Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) leader said the State’s next phase of development, set to roll out in 2026, builds on the foundations laid under SMJ 1.0 (2021–2025) that focused on ensuring that progress is felt equally across rural and urban areas, coastal and interior communities, as well as among youths, indigenous groups and small entrepreneurs.
“SMJ 2.0 is not merely about continuity but about strengthening and accelerating development in key areas such as economic diversification, human capital development, infrastructure expansion and good governance.
“It is also about putting people first and about making sure development reaches the grassroots and translates into real improvements in the quality of life for Sabahans,” he told Daily Express.
