Kota Kinabalu: The construction of new Outpatient Department (OPD) buildings at the Inanam and Manggatal Health Clinics is expected to be the primary solution to patient congestion problems at these facilities.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Sabah and Sarawak Affairs), Datuk Mustapha Sakmud, said the new OPD building at the Inanam Health Clinic has been fully completed, while construction at the Manggatal Health Clinic is progressing and is expected to be completed by the end of this year.

“The construction of these new buildings is a project that has been eagerly anticipated by residents.
Previously, the existing clinic capacity could not accommodate the increasing number of patients,” he said following a site visit to both health clinics on Sunday.
“With these new facilities, health examination processes can be carried out more smoothly and in an organised manner,” Mustapha added.
During the visit, Mustapha said that several proposals for new health clinic construction are being considered, including in the Karambunai area, subject to the availability of suitable land.
He acknowledged that several infrastructure support issues have been identified as major challenges affecting daily operations at existing clinics, including traffic congestion, insufficient parking spaces and unstable electricity supply.
“I will call upon the relevant agencies to discuss immediate solutions so that health services are not disrupted,” he said.
In another development, he noted that several areas around Kota Kinabalu have been hit by flooding, with Kampung Darau among the worst-affected locations so far.
A Temporary Evacuation Centre (PPS) has been opened at Masjid Al-Munir Hall, housing 46 families as of Sunday morning, while several other areas have also been reported as flooded.
He said data collection is currently underway to facilitate the distribution of aid to affected victims.
Also present during the visit were Federal Secretary Datuk Mohd Razali Wahab and Sabah State Health Director Dr William Gotulis.
