Man’s body found at vacant shop in Tawau
TAWAU: The body of a man was found lying face down in a premises at Batu 15, Apas Road, around 11am, Monday.

Initial police investigation showed the man had been dead for at least a week before being discovered by the public.

Tawau District Police Chief ACP Jasmin Hussin (pic) identified the man as Nordin, in his 30s, who was known by locals as a homeless person.

He said the body had begun to decompose when it was discovered.

He added that the man was believed to have been sleeping in an empty shop next to the car wash premises in the area.

A physical examination of the body showed no signs of injury or wounds that would suggest foul play, he said, adding the cause of death was confirmed by a medical officer before the body was referred to Tawau Hospital for further medical action, including an autopsy.

This case has been classified as a sudden death report, said Jasmin, who urged witnesses to come forward and assist in the investigation.
