Homeless man found dead in vacant shop in Tawau
TAWAU: A decomposed body of an adult man was found inside a premises at Batu 15 along Jalan Apas here at about 11am on Monday, prompting a police investigation.

Initial findings indicate the man had been dead for at least a week before the discovery was made by members of the public at the site.

Tawau district police chief ACP Jasmin Hussin said the deceased was identified as Nordin, believed to be in his 30s and known among locals as a homeless man.

He said police received the report through the Bandar Sri Indah police station at Batu 10, Jalan Apas, after members of the public alerted authorities to the discovery near a car wash in the area.

Jasmin said the body, found lying face down with a makeshift pillow inside a vacant shop believed to have been used as a sleeping place, showed no signs of criminal injury and was sent to Tawau Hospital for a post-mortem, with the case classified as sudden death pending further investigation.
