Dalian-Sabah Friendly Chamber Agreement signed

Kota Kinabalu: The Dalian General Chamber of Commerce of China and the Sabah China Chamber of Commerce signed a Friendly Chamber Agreement, marking a new phase of business cooperation and exchanges between Dalian and Sabah.

The agreement was signed here recently by Datuk Jonathan Koh, Vice-President of the Sabah China Chamber of Commerce, and Li Yanfeng, Vice-Chairman of the Dalian Municipal Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and President of the Dalian Federation of Industry and Commerce.

In his remarks, Koh said that despite the geographical distance between Dalian and Sabah, both regions shared a common aspiration for win-win cooperation.

He said the two sides were highly complementary in terms of industrial structure, resource endowment and market development, offering vast potential for collaboration.

“The establishment of a friendly chamber relationship will provide a more solid and efficient platform for exchanges between member enterprises, facilitating information sharing, resource integration and practical cooperation,” he said.

Koh expressed confidence that the agreement would open a new chapter in relations between the business communities of both regions, with cooperation expected to deepen in areas such as trade and investment, technological innovation, cultural exchanges and talent development.

He said the collaboration would also support enterprises in expanding into international markets and seizing new development opportunities, thereby contributing to economic growth and social development in both regions.

The Sabah delegation at the signing ceremony included Sabah China Chamber of Commerce Vice-President Datuk Simon Teoh; Director of Public Relations Anthony Leong; council members Lucas Kwan, Chin Hui Zhi, Desmond Hsiu and Chan Jun Git; as well as Invest Sabah Head of Marketing and Corporate Communications (Global Investment) Jaccie Koh.

The Dalian delegation was led by Li Yanfeng and included Guo Wei, Director of the Economic Liaison Department of the Dalian Federation of Industry and Commerce; Tian Yinglin, Deputy Director of the Protocol, Culture and News Division of the Dalian Municipal Foreign Affairs Office; and Lin Hai, Chairman of the Federation of Industry and Commerce of Dalian Jinpu New Area.

Also present were representatives of enterprises from both sides, including Cong Shujie, General Manager of Dalian Kaiyuan Pipeline Co Ltd; Cong Zichao, Sales Manager; Qiu Guozhi, Vice-Chairman of Youlan Group Co Ltd; Cui Wei, Executive Director of Anhui Green State Straw Products Co Ltd; Li Bo, General Manager of Hefei Moma Technology Co Ltd; and Cai Deming, Vice-President of the Liaoning General Chamber of Commerce, among others.
