Kota Kinabalu: Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) Secretary General Datuk Chin Shu Ying said Sabahans want stability, pragmatism and effective governance, not endless political manoeuvring.
The Nominated Assemblyman made the remarks while delivering his address at the 2025 LDP Tanjung Kapor Divisional Annual Conference.
Chin noted that the results of the 17th Sabah’s Election clearly reflected the people’s fatigue with political instability and power struggles, and their growing desire for a government capable of long-term, people-centric development.
He highlighted three defining realities shaping Sabah’s post-election political landscape - the public’s strong demand for stability, the inevitability of coalition politics and an increasingly discerning electorate that now judges parties on performance, policies and genuine understanding of local issues – rather than just slogans.
As a component of the ruling coalition, Chin reaffirmed that LDP will continue to act as a stabilising voice, a bridge between communities and a policy-driven contributor – with particular focus on articulating the concerns of the Chinese community while promoting multiracial harmony.
“LDP may not be the largest party, but we remain principled, consistent and constructive in our political engagement,” he said.
Drawing lessons from the election, Chin stressed that strong grassroots organisations, effective communication and long-term community service are the bedrock of public support.
He laid out five strategic directions for the party over the next five years - strengthening party organisation, actively engaging youth and new voters, maintaining a policy-driven approach, enhancing community-based service and upholding coalition discipline and political maturity.
He urged the Tanjung Kapor Division to step up its activities, groom future leaders and preserve unity, integrity and discipline within the party.
“The people will ultimately judge us not by what we say today, but by what we do tomorrow. LDP does not promise miracles, but we promise diligent work, firm principles and an unwavering commitment to serving Sabah,” he added.
Acting Tanjung Kapor Division Chairman Chee Kim Hiong expressed gratitude to all division members for their support and reaffirmed his commitment to leading the division in serving both the party and the people.
Also present were LDP President Datuk Chin Su Phin, Deputy President Datuk Yong Wui Chung, as well as the party’s Supreme Council members and rank-and-file members.
