SEMPORNA: Police arrested two men and seized more than 10gm of syabu in two separate operations at Kampung Bangau-Bangau, here, on Monday and Tuesday.
District Police Chief Supt Tan Hiap Wah said the first operation led to the arrest of an unemployed man at 6.45pm.
He said a translucent plastic packet containing substances believed to be syabu were found on him.
“The packet weighing 5.16gm and placed inside a cigarette box was voluntarily handed over by the 44-year-old suspect to the police,” he said.
He added that urine tests conducted on the Filipino man found he was positive for taking amphetamine and methamphetamine.
The case is being investigated under Section 39A(1) of the Dangerous Drug Act 1952.
In the second case, a Filipino man was arrested at 9pm on Tuesday at a parking lot of a tourist jetty.
“An inspection on the 27-year-old man found 5.21gm of substances believed to be syabu inside a cigarette box.
“The suspect also tested positive for taking amphetamine and methamphetamine,” he said, adding that the case would be investigated under Section 39A(1) of the Dangerous Drug Act 1952.
