SEMPORNA: A local man was detained and 10 gallons of diesel were seized in an operation at a fuel station in Jalan Kabogan, Kampung Bubul Lama, on Wednesday.
The arrest and seizure were made during a raid by Kunak 22nd Battalion General Operation Force (GOF) with cooperation from the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN).
Kunak GOF, in a statement, said the operation was carried out under Op Taring Bravo 1.
Acting on intelligence, a team of personnel made an inspection on a Proton Exora that led to the discovery of the diesel, suspected to be smuggled out to the neighbouring country.
All the seizures worth an estimated RM35,537.50 and the suspect were handed over to the Semporna KPDN for further action under Section 20(1) of the Control of Supply Act 1961.
