Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah Asnafpreneur Bank Rakyat 2.0 programme concluded its launch and business fund handover at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC), bringing together financial institutions, universities, and religious bodies to support Sabah’s asnaf entrepreneurs.

They had completed a five-day Bizup Bootcamp in October covering business planning, branding, pricing, social media marketing, e-commerce, and AI-based tools for operations and customer engagement.
UMS Vice-Chancellor Prof. Datuk Dr. Kassim Mansor said the programme bridges gaps in capital, knowledge, and digital skills.
“Participants are encouraged to use the knowledge and networks gained to grow businesses that are sustainable, shariah-compliant, and socially responsible,” he said.
Project Lead Dr. Brahim Chekima says, “Our partnership provides a full support ecosystem. The modules focus on action, digital marketing, and AI integration, with regular monitoring to track progress.”
The programme will continue with mentoring and monitoring at participants’ business premises until early 2026, aiming to expand markets, increase revenue, and strengthen the economic role of Sabah’s asnaf community.
Also present were Muis Chief Executive Datuk Ramlan Awang Ali, UMS Treasurer Datuk Badrul Hisham Ismail, Bank Rakyat Sabah Regional Head Md. Azmi Mohd Taib, FPEP Dean Prof. Madya Dr. Mohd. Rahimie Abd Karim, and PBNS Chief Executive Ismail Mohd Adnan.
