KOTA KINABALU: Four teenagers standing trial for allegedly using insulting words towards Zara Qairina Mahathir have lodged police reports, believed to be linked to claims of witness tampering in the case.
Their counsel, Azhier Farhan Arisin, confirmed that the reports were lodged by the parents and guardians of the child offenders, alleging actions by the prosecution team during the ongoing proceedings.

Azhier said his clients and another student involved in the case lodged the reports on Wednesday at the Karamunsing police station, citing concerns over conduct during the trial.
He said the alleged actions were believed to be prejudicial and could affect the fairness of the proceedings, but declined to elaborate as the case before the Court for Children is subject to a gag order.
The teenagers, along with another student, are accused of uttering insulting words heard between 10pm and 11pm on July 15 that allegedly caused Zara distress, while a separate police report on the same matter was also lodged by a student witness accompanied by her mother.
