State-level Christmas celebration from today
In addition to various stage performances, there will also be a ‘Jamuan Rakyat’ (people’s feast) involving 100 entrepreneurs from among local hawkers, who will supply a variety of dishes as part of the Government’s support for micro and small enterprises.
Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah Government will hold a State-level Christmas celebration from today (Tuesday) until Dec 19 at Padang Merdeka here.

Deputy Chief Minister III Datuk Ewon Benedick, who is also chairman of the celebration’s main committee, said for the first time, the Christmas celebration - previously organised by City Hall (DBKK) in collaboration with the Sabah Council of Churches (SCC) - has been elevated to a State-level event.

“This event reflects the openness and commitment of the Sabah Government under the leadership of Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor in supporting the celebration of religious festivals.

“The celebration will be officiated by the Yang di-Pertua Negeri of Sabah, Tun Musa Aman, on Dec 16, while the closing ceremony will be officiated by the Chief Minister on Dec 19, 2025,” he said, in a statement, Monday.

In this regard, Ewon invited all Sabahans to attend and add meaning and significance to the celebration.
