Newborn saved moments before tree crushes Sandakan home
SANDAKAN: A house in Kampung Nanas along Jalan Karamunting was damaged after being hit by a fallen tree at about 7am on Monday.

The Sandakan Civil Defence Force (APM) said five occupants were inside the house at the time, comprising two adults, two children aged six and four, and a two-day-old baby.

District Civil Defence Officer Capt Sulaiman Salama said the head of the family managed to rescue the infant from a cradle moments before the tree collapsed onto part of the house.

No injuries were reported and all victims were safe.

APM personnel carried out an initial assessment and cleared the fallen tree with the assistance of other agencies.

The public were advised to remain alert to weather conditions and the risk of falling trees, especially during the rainy and windy season.
